In June 2017 the beautiful Garden Route in South Africa started to burn. Fires everywhere spread rapidly because of the wind and dry weather conditions. It burnt for days, with hundreds being displaced as they had to evacuate because towns and districts were surrounded by flames. Many lost their homes and some their lives. Hundreds of hectares of forest was also burned to the ground.
The impact of these fires are still seen today and will still be seen long into the future.
Homes have been rebuilt and forest have started to regrow, but there is still a lot more that needs to be done.
