This evening the LEMM®️ Charity Team went out in to the streets of S.E. Washington, DC. We had the pleasure of meeting Michelle. Ahhh, she’s a doll. She was feeding the birds while sitting on a park bench. When I walked up to her, I told her my purpose. I asked her if she wanted a blanket. At first she declined. But the story gets better near the ending. I then asked her if she wanted a blessing-care package. She said yes, then examined the contents. She then said with enthusiasm, “I need this!” However, she referred to it as a hygiene package. 😊
Anyway, before I would leave, she made a request which I eventually obliged. After all, what the LEMM team & I did, really showed me the extent of being truly compassionate & selfless. To add, it’s not about just “works”—serving the homeless or individuals who choose to live on the streets. The few stories that I’ve heard so far from them, including Michelle’s on tonight, is disturbing to say the least. Rather it’s about Faith & Love. And just as the man in the Scriptures who left the 99 sheep to go after the one that was lost (Luke 15:4), so did the team & I obliged Michelle.
Suffice it to say, when after hours later the LEMM team & I returned to oblige Queen Michelle with a duffle/back pack (seen in photo), she humbly asked for a blanket for herself. By that time, the temperature had dropped a few degrees more. As for me, it was really cold out, so I was relieved when she opted for the blanket. In addition to giving her a blanket, she asked for an extra one, along with two more “hygiene” packages. She will give those items to the individuals she associates with on the streets. She was bountifully grateful! 🤗As I headed back to my vehicle, in the midst of the noise from the cars on the busy city roads, all you could hear echoing from the bench in the park were me and Michelle’s words exclaiming, “‘God is Good,’ ‘God loves you,’ ‘Yep, Yep,’ ‘Thank you Ms. Jo,’ ‘Thank You Lord’ and, ‘I love you!’” 92 individuals more to bless y’all!
