Today marks 20 years since a heart attack nearly took my life. I don’t think of what that day took away from me, but rather I see it as a beginning. Of making me realize what I was capable of enduring, and how I could help affect change in the way others think about disabilities, young women with heart disease, and organ donation. It opened my eyes to opportunities I never considered before, and risks I never thought I’d take. As the journey continues, I don’t live my life in fear-but with excitement for the next chapters ahead.
