Are you a smoothie drinker? You'll want to make sure you're adding these two things....
2. A source of healthy fats
The two macronutrients, protein and fat, set our bodies up for efficient fat burning 💥and optimal nutrient absorption.
When a meal contains protein and healthy fats, our appetite suppressing hormone is increased and our appetite stimulating hormone is reduced. Therefore we feel satisfied and full for at least 3-4 hours. Our insulin levels also stay low if the smoothie isn't also high in sugar - and fat burning takes place when insulin levels are low. So, together, these two macros work synergistically to decrease our appetites, support the loss of fat and allow us to maintain a healthy weight.
Healthy fats are also required for vitamin and mineral absorption 🥒🥦🍓, in particular - vitamin A, D, E and K. They’re simply not absorbed without fat! A lot of people are unaware of this.
So.... Make sure you're adding a serve of good quality protein powder (I love @welleco and @morlife_ ).
And, add a serve of healthy fats ie a small handful of nuts or 1 tbsp nut butter, 1 tbsp chia seeds, 1 tbsp flax seeds, 1 tbsp coconut oil, coconut yogurt or 1/2 an 🥑. Then, bulk it up with water or unsweetened almond milk, ice, and some low sugar fruits of veggies like greens, frozen cauliflower and berries🍓🍓🍓.
