A refreshing 6km walk and swim at sunset on Magnetic Island was wonderfully invigorating.
We often hear about the physical benefits of exercise (e.g., increasing heart health), less often are the psychological benefits promoted. Yet, engaging in a moderate amount of physical activity (10+mins) will result in improved mood and emotional states. Exercise can promote psychological well-being as well as improve quality of life, as follows:

Improved mood
Reduced stress
Improved self-esteem
Improved body image
Increased feelings of energy
Decreased depression symptoms
Better quality sleep
Mindfulness improvements

As people experience these psychological benefits, it is likely that they also will be motivated to continue exercising. Something to think about.

MENOPAUSE MOODS

The image that I have chosen for this post is the Battlestar Galactica: Human vs. Cylon which is a pair of steel, dueling roller coasters at Universal Studios Singapore. The complex mood swings caused by the hormonal changes during perimenopause & in the first few years after the menopause can be very provoking. Identifying what is a menopausal symptom & what are 'true' mood changes, depression or anxiety can be difficult.
Symptom severity is influenced by other factors including:
The type of menopause you have – whether it is expected and on time, early, as a result of surgery, or chemotherapy, or premature (before 40 years of age)

Age & life stage of life - whether you have done the things you wanted to, such as have children
Existing mental health – whether you have been depressed or anxious in the past

Life satisfaction - you have achieved the things you wanted to achieve – do you have an identity and purpose you are happy with?

Body image - how you feel about the changes that are happening to you

Existing health issues

Sleep problems.

If you experience emotional ups and downs during the menopausal process, you should speak to your doctor about possible interventions.

Apples!!! Remember back to the #applechallenge when everyone was over the moon with all the info and recipes by @medicalmedium about apples ?? This dish is apples with Carmel sauce I made back during the challenge , It was so great. (And the recipe is from Anthony. )

But I have tell you that this weekend ,I bought a bag of Giant Fuji apples that were so incredible that they dropped juice down your face and were sooooo sweet !! I wound up eating 3 a day , and wowowwww!! You would not believe my skin, how soft it got !!! Granted, one apple is pretty much the a whole meal in itself. Haha.
But seriously. Apples. They rock. .

Hey beauties!!! These past few days under the sun have been amazing!! I’m heading back home (#london - the perks of having two homes 😍) and this time I’m not that thrilled - might be cause both @tucksmindset.body & @amiebfit_ told me the weather is not the best (not surprised but heat after 8 days of 25 degrees what can I do??🤷🏼‍♀️) ⛈☔️

FATIGUE - SPOON THEORY

The Spoon Theory is a story by Christine Miserandino. The theory is a helpful way to understand the fatigue experienced by individuals with chronic illness, depression, acute stress or strong anxiety. Units of energy are described as “spoons”, which are finite and easily used up without adequate self care.

According to the theory, the difference between being unwell and healthy is having to make choices or to consciously think about your energy use. To have to carefully consider how to use the 10 spoons in your drawer, rather than assuming you always have more energy/spoons to use. For the most part, healthy individuals do not need to worry about the effects of their actions on their energy reserves.
For people with fatigue issues, especially those related to chronic illness, having depleted and low reserves of energy can effect all aspects of daily functioning. Being fatigued effects mood, coping, thinking processes (see my post: Foggy Brain), work ability and productivity, ability to socialise... the list goes on unfortunately.

Understanding and empathetically supporting people with fatigue is helpful. It is not laziness, can be extremely frustrating and can detrimentally effect self esteem and confidence. If you suffer from fatigue issues, sharing this story may assist others to understand your experience with greater empathy and compassion.
