Chipotle has become one of my favorite spices to cook with lately. I really love the smoky spicy taste as it adds a lot of flavor and can completely transform a dish. I’m a big fan of bbq sauce and could put it on practically everything. However it usually contains a lot of added sugars and so I choose to get my smokiness kick from this amazing spice.

Did you know that chipotle can help balance blood sugar levels? It also aids in weight loss, improves digestion, reduces blood pressure, helps clear up respiratory conditions, improve the immune system, and optimizes nutritional uptake of other foods.

I don’t know about you but that’s pretty amazing! 😁 Powerful medicinal properties of food are usually overlooked and we’re missing out on so much goodness.

Happy Wednesday!! Tonight for dinner was pasta and it was so delicious that my pup was ready for her plate! The great thing about this pasta is that it is made from spaghetti squash and not pasta! The sauce is made from tomatoes, spinach, garlic, and onion. The spaghetti squash was cut in half, pulled apart with a fork, and cooked in the oven for 40 minutes. There was also the option of grilled chicken and shrimp to add in for some protein! It was a great meal, simple, and filling. The love of pasta was there but without the carbs! Needed this dinner so badly💁🏼‍♀️💁🏼‍♀️ Simple, but delicious. I try and always have some greens with dinner, which isn’t hard for me because I ❤️ big salads. Roasted sweet potatoes on the side 🍠 MACRO CHIT CHAT👉🏼👉🏼 Today I tracked my food (not 100% measures to the g) I have a 50/50 feeling towards macro tracking. In some aspects it amazing and you know 100% you’re fueling your body, but in other aspects food dictates your life. I did track macros for around 4 months and saw awesome results. I essentially ate what I wanted, but I was always checking My Fitness Pal or eating high protein all day and carb hoarding for ice cream or something. My mindset now is just have the ice cream, who gives two shits if you have 250g of carbs one day and 200 the next. I definitely wasn’t in a super healthy mindset despite being probably the “healthiest” I’ve ever been. Anywhooo today I tracked all my food. I was pretty spot on with the big 3- carbs, protein, and fats! 👏🏼👏🏼 With that being said, I just proved to myself that I know what my body needs & when it needs it, and I do not need an app that tells me I can only have 20 more grams of carbs. Bodies are so interesting and listening to your body is one of the best things you can do🙌🏼🙌🏼 While I’m not trying to trash talk macros (if you count them, good for you) I do 110% believe that intuitive eating is 73738383x healthier for your body and your MIND (emphasize on second part!) 🧠

I’ve been craving these turkey meatballs for a while now! I figured I’d pair them with my favorite zoodles and it was delicious, definitely hit the spot!! .

Recipe: ground turkey, 2 tablespoons of gillians breadcrumbs, pinch of salt, chopped basil, chopped garlic and 1/2 an egg. Mix everything in a bowl and form into meatballs. Sauté meatballs in pot (I used my @breville pressure cooker) until one side is browned. Then turn meatballs over and lightly brown again. Then I set the pressure cooker for 5 minuets, added 2 large chopped tomatoes and locked the lid. Enjoy!!! .

Fresh Tomato Soup 🍅 This soup was SO good! The flavor is outstanding...sweet and a little tangy, and creamy. It was great with a little basil, and drizzled with olive oil...It would also be delicious with a swirl of cream. Yum! ❤️
12 medium tomatoes, peeled and seeded. Liquid strained and reserved.
3 cloves garlic,minced
1/2 yellow onion, finely chopped (about 1 cup)
2 Tbsp olive oil
3 tsp Veggie or chicken base
Heat oil in a medium size sauce pan over medium heat. Add onion and sauté until they start to brown. Add garlic and sauté one more minute. Add tomatoes, reserved liquid, soup base, and enough water to just cover the tomatoes. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer 10 minutes. Remove from heat and blend with an emersion blender or pour into a food processor and process until smooth. Makes about 5 cups. Great with chopped basil, olive oil, or croutons. This recipe was inspired by the fresh squeezed lemonade you get at summer festivals, but this one skips the refined sugar. Instead you'll use a simple syrup made with honey. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This leaves a lot of room for creativity in flavoring since you can get lots of different flavored honey. Lavendar or orange blossom honey, anyone? 😍

🍫CHOCOLATE COCONUT PROTEIN BALLS🍫
Tbh guys, I made a small batch of these (literally 3) only bc I didn’t think I’d like them...big mistake because I ended up LOVING them!! They’re perfect for when you’re craving a sweet treat😋 I actually think this small batch works well for those who only snack every once in a while! I ended up using my homemade almond butter (recipe a few posts back) which gave these a lot of flavor, but go ahead and sub for your favorite nut butter! Now if you need me, I’ll be in the kitchen making a double (triple?) batch of these🤩

dEATS: 1 scoop of @nuzest_usa rich chocolate protein powder + 1 T of honey + 2 T of unsweetened shredded coconut (1 in the mixture, 1 for toppings) + 2 T homemade vanilla cinnamon almond butter + 1 T of chia seeds + 1/4 t of pure vanilla extract + a dash of cinnamon // Mix everything until well combined. Form three balls, then roll them on to a small dish with the unsweetened shredded coconut. Store in the fridge until you’re ready to get your snack on🌟
