To improve shoulder and upper back mobility, lie face-up with your head slightly off the end of a bed and let your arms hang freely above your head.

Once you’re comfortable in this position, slowly take your arms through a small arc as though you are making a snow angel - you can do this several times to warm up your shoulder joints.

As you’re able to, progressively move a little further off the end of the bed to allow your arms to hang further below your head, and also for your thoracic spine to go through more extension. Repeat the slow arcs with your arms.

When you feel you’ve reached a comfortable limit to how far off the bed you can position yourself, try holding a light weight with your hands to encourage further flexion of your shoulders and extension of your spine.

You can even try to take your arms through the same arcs while holding the weight.

Finish by taking your hips from side to side on the bed while your shoulders are held in maximum flexion by a light weight.

Pain varies in intensity from tolerable to excruciating, mild to severe dependent on causative factors/agents, individual perception, stage of injury, degree of affectation on body tissues, medical intervention. Pain in the low back is one of the most commonly reported cases in clinics and a leading cause of disability. It could result from a number of factors including age, genetics, posture, certain disease conditions, obesity, physical inactivity. Posture is the most common predisposing factor of low back pain in young people with resolution of pain resolving almost by 80% in most individuals on physiotherapy, postural education and correction. In people with low back pain from other causative factors, the symptom (pain) which may co-exist with other symptoms can be managed with physiotherapy and lifestyle modification so that an affected individual is able to function independently and have a optimal quality of life. Physiotherapy is a very important part of medical management of individuals with complaints of back pain as medication most often relieve pain temporarily without resolving musculoskeletal affectation. Ergonomics, Goal-oriented and specific exercises, postural education & lifestyle modification in addition to electrotherapy are some modalities a physiotherapist would employ in achieving and maintaining healthy backs for clients. Balance is restored with the Rest position (Balasana or Child’s Pose in yoga). A great release for the spine after doing exercises like Cobra in the prone position. Single leg Sunday.. Back and hips felt kind of tight, so I kept the weight moderate and worked on exercises that involved stretching the hips and hamstrings. Last exercise is for the core, which helps to strengthen the back. Now I feel great and ready to attack some heavier weight for Monday!! Slide 1: Elevated split squat with rotation
Slide 2: one leg good morning (try holding on to a wall with no weight if new to this exercise and make sure you are proficient at standard good mornings)
Slide 3: barbell reverse lunge
Slide 4: kettlebell one leg deadlift
Slide 5: stability ball leg curl -both legs to single leg
Slide 6: stability ball plank circles

Also, these exercises disprove the common belief that lifting weights cause you to be inflexible. These exercises do the direct opposite. And weight training can be graceful and feminine too.

⛔В случае, если вы во время подъема округлите спину, нагрузка на внутренний край позвонка будет сильнее, чем на внешний, что приведет к выдавливанию межпозвоничного диска в сторону наименьшего давления! Что, в свою очередь, приведет к появлению грыж и протрузий!

I love this position cause is so relaxing. And using a folded mat/blanket or pillow under the back is just helps to relax your back even further, whilst mild stretching the lower back.
How To:
Keep bottom of feet together (like in a butterfly position). Relax the knees and allow them to get closer and closer to the mat with each exhale. Palm facing up, or in a mudra position (my choice), arms away from the body, chest relaxed..Use blocks under your knees if the pressure is too much on the hips.

Benefits: Hip opener. Increases blood circulation on the lower abdomen, stimulating the organs. Stretches inner thighs, groins and knees.
Avoid if: groin or knee injury
