Tuesday I spent about 22 hours waiting for, missing, and then sitting on several flights. It was all worth it in the end, but man! Did it feel like a big waste after that fourth coffee and very bland protein bar I shoveled down the hatch while going through security for the second time. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Out of my hangry-ness, I’m pretty sure I snapped at not one, but two well-meaning flight attendants when they told me to put my purse under the seat in front of me. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you’re somehow reading this, I’m so very sorry. Low blood sugar and too much caffeine will do it every time. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It reminds me of all the times I hijack situations, striving to show up a certain way or fit in, and miss the connection I was going for altogether. My ego gets the best of me and I’m left frustrated and feeling icky...inauthentic.
Do you ever experience this? Do you ever get caught up in the hustle of measuring up and in the end feel worse, totally missing the love and connection you were going for?
I’ve found from (a lot) of my own experiences, that the more direct route is really more about seeing than being seen. It’s more about being interested, than being interesting. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It’s about listening generously, seeing deeply, and holding space for who is right in front of you. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We actually don’t have to work so hard! We can let go of some of that precious tension racing through our bodies. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Radical empathy is soft and it’s the most direct route for anyone who longs to show up and add value to the world. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You have SO MUCH VALUE to bring. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
