Since it has crossed 40 degree Celsius here in Delhi, India, I no more feel like taking my hot morning tonic (Blog link in bio).To get going in this peak summer, I needed a drink that keeps my body cool & simultaneously helps me with digestion (basically a cool version of my morning tonic). So mum and I researched a little and experimented with white pumpkin (safed petha) juice in the morning. We are having it since 3 weeks now and it’s already showing its benefits. 💁♀️We have found a cure for acidity. No need to pop those antacid pills 💊or have spoonfuls of pink syrup at night. Pumpkin juice is 100% alkaline and starting your day with alkaline food is one of the best things that you can do for your body especially your stomach. Plus, it has a really cooling effect on the system (which is a huge relief during peak summers) diminishing the effects of stomach infection, indigestion, acid reflux, peptic ulcers and constipation.
It is a diuretic and has incredible detoxifying properties, making it good to consume if you suffer from a urinary tract infection, kidney problems, or stones in the kidney, gall-bladder, or bladder. 👉PS: Make sure you have it first thing in the morning when you wake up and keep at least a 2 hour gap before you have your breakfast. 📝It is supposed to be rich in dietary fibre, calcium, phosphorous, sodium, vitamin C (ascorbic acid) and contains magnesium, potassium, copper, zinc, iron, manganese, thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, pantothenic acid, Vitamin B6 and folate. It also contains essential amino acids, tryptophan, lysine and methionine, fatty acids and traces of selenium. 🔪How to make: Skin the pumpkin, cut pieces, throw them in the blender with seeds, add some water (half a cup for 2 glasses of juice) and mix it. Once done, strain it and drink a glass each. 👅How does it taste: Like dragon fruit.. Basically it’s tasteless and bland. That I believe, is the perfect way to start your day - neutral and unbiased, so that you let the day add its flavours gradually 😉
