Another beast concept from the story The Far Side. A 6 limbed herbivore Axel calls the Goblin Antelope. This is another creature that he finds in the Dreamscape that also exists in the real world. They are harmless creatures with a habit of stealing things they see as interesting, they have four legs used to support their body and a pair of arms with padded hands capable of holding things like humans can. These limbs also help with holding branches still for food and throwing rocks or other objects at would be predators. They sound a lot like buffalo and live in tight herds of 20 to 50 members, a big bull male leads the herds and is more aggressive than the rest. If one senses danger, the others will respond immediately and flee. Axel first encounters them in the Dreamscape, using a herd of them as a distraction as he runs from a small pack of Taiga Crawlers. Taiga Crawlers are the only known natural predators of this species so far. Goblin Antelopes are dark in color (as are most beasts from the Far Side) but have colorful bioluminescent markings on the head an neck. This feature is used mostly for identifying individuals but can also be used to intimidate rivals and attract mates. The stiff mane on the back of the neck is actually a mane of quills instead of fur, these can be shot out as a defensive mechanism when being threatened by a larger force and are also used in rival male battles, whoever survives the battle usually becomes the leader of the herd. The goblin shark inspired head crest has no use for battle but may be used for identification or even display. These creatures are smart enough to count and the herd leader will count the members in his herd to make sure he has everyone, they are also smart enough to make quick escape plans when cornered by predators. Because of this intelligence, their main predator evolved to be much smarter to out do their quick maneuvers. When confronted by a harmless stranger, they will stare and make strange barking noises at each other, as if discussing amongst themselves if this stranger is approachable. If they get close to the you, they’re most likely going to steal whatever you have on you and then run.
