#AUSVEG women rock!
What a productive day, with great projects, partners, solutions, and lots of Veges + Field Crop actions. Thanks for the team love, the kind messages and the simple act of classic flowers :) This is an INSTAshare from @ausveg
"Today is International Women’s Day!" Women play an integral role in communities all around the world, and here in Australia women make a vital contribution to the horticulture industry. Today, make sure you take a moment to appreciate the tireless (and often forgotten or overlooked) work of women in rural and regional communities.
Here at AUSVEG, we love to recognise the excellent work that women do for our industry with our Women in Horticulture column in each edition of Vegetables Australia magazine. Each edition looks at the achievements of one of the many fantastic females leading the way within our industry. To read our latest Women in Horticulture column, see page 40 of the January/February edition of Vegetables Australia magazine at ausveg.com.au/publications.
We also organise an annual Women in Horticulture event and once again it will be held in conjunction with Hort Connections 2018 in June. This year’s event will feature keynote speaker Rachael Robertson, who led the Australian expedition to Davis Station, Antarctica. Rachael was the second female to lead a team to the Station and the youngest ever leader. The event will also celebrate the nominees for the Women in Horticulture national award. Nominations open soon, so keep an eye out!
For more information on Rachael Robertson (and other fantastic speakers announced for Hort Connections 2018 so far), please visit hortconnections.com.au/speakers.
Happy International Women’s Day!
