Often rushed through on the #inhale that covers the step forward from #downwardfacingdog to whichever variation of #lunge you choose for your #sunsalutation the #threeleggeddog is much more than a simple transition pose.
It is a foundation #inversion meant to challenge your #balance lengthen your spine and hamstrings stretch and strengthen your shoulders and find simultaneously an internal rotation in the legs - to prevent an initial tilt of the pelvis to the side - while externally rotating the arms and untucking the #tailbone
It can also be used as a transition toward the "Wild Thing" pose, as illustrated by Karen.
An amazing exercise of #alignment it appears in the #stretchtherapy system as a calf and ankle stretch.
Come and explore its many applications both in the early mornings dynamic #vinyasaflow and the #hathafusion and #stretching sequences
