This quaint pendant made of wooden burl is mostly created by nature and slightly brought to the desired shape by a master. It can be used as a separate suspension, a central bead in a necklace, a keychain, an ornament on a bag, an amulet or an anti-stress toy: it's interesting to twirl it in hands, look at the patterns, feel the texture.
Wooden burl is an outgrowth on a tree with deformed directions of growth of wood fibers. These burls are unique not only by their look but also because they were found and collected by one soviet biologist. He collected them all around Russia durng his expeditions, thoroughly cleaned and dried. And then for decades they were stored in the botanical garden of St. Petersburg, before they fell into the hands of the author.
They say that such outgrowth appears when the tree relieves someone of its ailment with its strength, so the burl can become an amulet of strength and healing.
