The gorgeous Punta House by @mkogan27 the master who is a personal inspiration to myself as I am sure countless others. The home is located in Punta del Este, Uruguay. The 5,000 ft² (464 m²) residence sits on a open country wasteland. The project posed the challenge to create private spaces and also to protect the surrounding landscape both visually and climatically. The solution adopted from the outset, was a one-level house which, on one side looked out to the waters of the reservoir; and, on the other, to an internal patio demarcated by stone walls, which end up defining all of the spaces of the house. #Uruguay #view #courtyard #relax #calm #mk27 #wood #views #resevoir #glass #stone #stone #courtyard #glass #contrast

Haus am Stürcherwald by Bernardo Bader Architects appears to be raised on stilts above chunky concrete foundations in the mountainous Vorarlberg region of Austria. The interior of the house is lined entirely in the same larch panels as the exterior, although the architects opted instead for planed rather than sanded surfaces here. Living areas are spread over the top two floors of the house, while a partial basement located within the concrete plinth offers utility spaces. The form of Haus am Stürcherwald is characteristic of the practice's style, with similar projects including a blackened-timber house. #austria #austrian #timber #wood #woodenhouse #wooden #woodworking #cabin #patterns #patters #concrete

Casa Triginer (1996) by Carlos Ferrater located in Vallvidrera, Barcelona, Spain. The house layout has two parallel bodies stepped on the empty slope facing the south with a distant view of the mountains and the sea. These two bodies are interconnected on the lower level, the garage and additional facilities being at the back, and at the front in a straight continuous line: the hall and games area, a gymnasium with changing rooms and sauna, and the owner’s suite. These areas are interconnected by means of sliding panels leading to the swimming pool outside. #entry #entrance #shadow #shadows #lighting #light #decor #instadesign #pattern #spain #spanish #minimalism

CASA Vi by EV+A Lab Atelier d'architettura situated in Sondrio, Italy. The small 807 ft² (75 m²) home is located in the surroundings of Sondrio on the Orobic Alps at about 3,280-ft (1k meters) of altitude. Because mountain architecture is an emblematic example of sustainable architecture, using materials obtained from nature and, for obvious reasons, found in place. From a formal point of view the house refers to the rural houses: the only sloping roof, completely coated by stone and with no eaves. #Italy #italian #cabin #wood #timber #stonehouse #mountain #stair #stairs #staircase #stairway

Located in Lago Sul, Brasília, Brazil, Cubes House (2015) by Studio [+] Valéria Gontijo. Concrete plays a big role in this design, which is quite common in Brazilian architecture. Wood, concrete and steel is the trilogy that marks all the facades, coatings and elements in the whole project, besides the brutalist and modern aspects the project was seeking. It was important to take advantage of the impact of the concrete to achieve the facades’ blind plans at the same time where the metallic structure allied to the reinforced concrete made the large spans possible. #concrete #brasil #brazilian #monolithic #brasilia #monolith #volume #brazil

Located in Taiwan, Courtyard House (2014) by Dotze Innovations Studio. The initial idea was to create a contemporary Chinese courtyard house with a "回" shaped volume, a layout with individual living units and shared family spaces. They are connected by a looped corridor and separated by small light wells. Big glazing facing the central courtyard is designed and "Sky Voids" provide inner-views of the garden. This is a project trying to re-define a modern Chinese courtyard house and explore how space can be divided individually but stay closely connected. #taiwan #Taiwanese #courtyard #glass # decor #interior #pattern #water #blocks #concrete

Sotogrande House by A-cero Architects . The nearly 4,300 ft² (400 m²) concrete house is located in Cadiz, a city and port in southwestern Spain. The house’s structure is a cubic volume. The most public spaces are in the ground floor: lounge, dining room, hall and a cleaning room. The kitchen, servant quarters and four bedrooms are in this level too. All the rooms have access to the exterior areas. #spain #spanish #entrance #entry #contrast #concrete #minimalist #courtyard

Résidence Roy-Lawrence by Chevalier Morales Architectes situated in Quebec, Canada. This residence is set in a vast estate very much impregnated with the legacy of a Swiss immigrant family that came to Canada in the 1930’s. To this date, the surroundings of the residence are still defined by bucolic landscapes, iconic Swiss chalets and other buildings of similar nature that were erected along the years, always with a consistent touch of nostalgia. #Quebec #Canada #Snow #Winter #Family #Cabin #Canadian #Architecture

‪Vitra Conference Pavilion (1993) located in Weilheim Bayern, Germany by my favorite, Tadao Ando. ‬A large part of its volume is concealed under ground level, greatly reducing its impact on the surrounding landscape. Predominantly built out of beton, with floors made out of wood, it manages to transmit a rather “soft” sensation. If you caress some of its walls, you almost have the feeling of touching velvet. #German #germany #ando #tadao #tadaoAndo #concrete #pavilion #legend #chair #chairs #vitra #decor
