The Resilience Of The Human Body
I am often amazed at how well my body was able to bounce back from years of torture and starvation. After being severely underweight with a BMI of 14 and putting constant stress on my organs, especially my heart and lungs that fought hard to keep me alive, I am in awe of the level of cardiovascular fitness that I have since been able to achieve, and the strength that has been built upon such fragile foundations.
Not only have my heart, bones and organs recovered from my illness but they continue to adapt to the stress of this morning's exhaustive Crossfit workout, after a very late night involving far too much alcohol.
The human body is bred to be healthy, and given the right environment with an abundance of fresh, healthy foods, movement and self-care in the form of adequate rest can achieve amazing things.
