Want to know one of the biggest keys to success today when we all have SO MUCH going on? It's incredibly simple. Yet, only a small percentage of people (who just happen to be crushing it in life) are doing it.
The key is this:
Start each and every day with some self-care (hydration, exercise, or whatever it might be for you) and then proceed to work on YOUR #1 goal for the day. Now, this is overly simplistic, so let's unpack this a bit...
What happens when you start your day by immediately answering phone calls, or heading straight to your email, or tackling instant messaging? You start your day taking care of everyone else's agendas and not your own.
If you are reading this, chances are you really care about people, and you're the type of person to go above and beyond to help make a difference. It's a gracious way to be, but that behavior may have landed you behind the ball in accomplishing your own goals. And let me tell you, you're not alone...
The secret to living a successful and fulfilling life, AND being able to give more than you ever have, is actually something counterintuitive. You must initiate each day by working on your biggest goal FIRST, then and only then do you start addressing the needs and goals of others. Even if it's just 10 minutes of working towards your goal, it's the action, intention, and orientation that matters.
Researching for a project, writing an outline for that book you've been wanting to write, working on that new recipe, or whatever it might be for you to push your goals and your life forward. Do that first so that you can show up better for everyone else afterward. You will curb your anxiety, eliminate resentment, and build up your sense of purpose and presence by following this principle.
