Today is World Mental Health Day. You don’t have to pretend that you’re okay, it’s perfectly fine not to be. I want everybody in this world to know that although talking about it feels like the hardest, most unachievable obstacle, once you do, you will feel so much better. I’ve been the one to suffer in silence and it’s no fun at all, pretending that you’re happy, when really you just want to cry and scream and lock yourself away. But that’s no way to feel, is it? We’re all human and we all deserve happiness. Some people just have a harder time finding that happiness. But I promise, it is out there somewhere. Sorry for the long post, but mental health is something very important to me and I feel very strongly about it. I had an experience two weeks ago that has opened my eyes even more to the severity of mental health being surrounded by stigma, and stereotypes. We, the human race, need to do far more than we do to spread awareness and get people the help that they deserve. We need to stop judging so that people feel it is acceptable to talk about how they are feeling.
