Super happy place - back in the valley under the twisted trees! <3
There are rocks lurking everywhere in this neighborhood. Openly lounging on lawns. Standing in pastures after all primitive machinery failed to move the. And standing in shadow just beyond the line of trees. I've been able to muster a small watercolor portrait of a different rock almost every day. It's about all I can handle with so many other things going on.
Wall boulder. There was a junco nesting in the wall just before we moved. It's eggs had hatched and three new juncos presumably flew off into the world before we moved in. Maybe we'll see more next year.
Rocks from the edge of the yard. It has been such a pleasant day after the last few days of rain and thunderstorms. Nice to sit out on a rock, paint some other rocks and watch the resident junco flit around.
Testing out watercolor field books, the left one is FieldArtist and the right one is Handbook Travelogue series. I like the Field Artist, has nice thick paper and takes the watercolor well. Does anybody have any recommendations for other watercolor field books?
We have a fantastic array of boulders in our yard. Don't have to go farther than the front door to practice painting rock textures or shade and sun on their surfaces. I can tell we're going to be friends.
