This was from Saturday, it was the perfect summer evening. I had to Ghillie for a friend who's husband had bought her the day as a surprise birthday present, she had already banked an impressive rainbow just shy of the six pound mark earlier on in the day. As the sun dropped below the tree line, more Sedge started to dance over the river, tormenting the Trout. Occasionally a fish would leap clear from the water in a desperate attempt to catch its supper. There was a big fish spotted rising consistently, sipping away at the unlucky flys trapped in the surface of the water. The perfect cast was executed and the beast was fooled, an explosion of water and the scream of the reel followed as the hook was set. A couple of lengthy runs downstream saw the reel empty at an alarming rate! Eventually the fish tired and a rather porky brown trout around the seven pound mark was slid over the net. That's got to be the highlight of my season so far, to help a novice bag two fish over five pounds in one day, plus a hand full of smaller stockys is an amazing feeling.
