Puffskein Patch Kids 🎃🐶🌳 I realise we’re now halfway through November, but there’s always time for a bowl of Pumpkin SPEW! On that note, I recently uploaded a HARRYween-themed video (link in bio) and would love to know your thoughts 💛 From pumpkin puff crochet and free elf carving, to cavachon cameos and finding that chosen squash, I’ve fallen in love with time lapses and really enjoyed putting it together!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Looking ahead with my crystal ball, I’m currently editing a “small business unboxing” and have lots of random footage that needs an Always home... I am currently in love with studio vlogs, particularly @katnippillustration and @ellisjade_, so perhaps that is the way forward? Even if it means properly sharing my face on camera again 🎬
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
That being said, I’m overcoming anxiety by sharing a LONG OVERDUE photo of me and Millie moo(se) - the other day, it dawned on me how few and far between these are, but no one makes me smile quite like DumbleDora the pumpkin explorer 💛⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Pumpkin Pour Painting 🎃!
*
Young children really relish the feedback they are getting from their senses, especially from their tactile sense. They like squishing finger paint in their hands, tearing papers, physically working with clay and mud – anything that’s “messy”, “drippy”, “sticky”, “squishy” where they can  manipulate materials and explore properties like texture, flexibility, fluidity.
*
So... pouring paint? Squeezing? Exploring gravity? Taking turns? Cooperating? Color mixing? Hand-eye coordination? Yes, please!

Are you looking for a fun and easy, age appropriate, no-carve pumpkin decorating idea that will keep your toddler busy for hours? Look no further! Ever since seeing #mericherryla’s Pumpkin Party, decorating pumpkins with tinker trays has become a yearly tradition – we seriously love these pumpkins sooo much! This project is such a open-ended, engaging activity that will stimulates your child’s imagination, offers the freedom to create and inspires to find new ways of using the materials as well as building fine and gross motor skills! “Stop thinking about art works as objects, and start thinking about them as triggers for experiences.” - Brian Eno.

Art activities that encourage playful learning foster skills in many essential developmental areas. Younger children learn and make sense of their world by doing and imagining. While this looks like and is a simple craft it held space for so many other experiences based on the children’s interest and questions about bats:
*
We listened to the book “Stellaluna" and asked questions like “How do bats see?”, “Are bats birds?”, “What do they eat?”.
We built a bat cave and practiced hanging upside down and especially liked playing bat and insects hide and seek, using our sense of hearing to determine where our food hides. We were quite astonished about how good bats hear and how they can fly in the darkness without hitting anything.
We used chalk pastels as background because the children’s loved layering, smudging and blending chalks outside to see what colors they can make.
We added more layers, adding details with sharpies or oil pastels and finishing touches with stickers, glue, tissue papers and a variety of loose materials to choose from while we observed and thought about the features of each bat and processed what we’ve learned and wondered about: Some of us gave the bats multiple eyes because bats eyes are so weak, veins in wings and huge ears, razor sharp teeth, fruit and insects to snack on, friends to snuggle in the cave and then we just played being bats all week long (more details on the blog). Thanks for the Bat Puppet Template #redtedart!

@jenniferperkins inspired us to have a Halloween-themed tree that we decided to pass for Christmas tree as well. I made the bat ornaments with help from my son, fun project in-between starting final projects for the semester. Gotta de-stress a bit! #phdlife #holidaytree #halloweencrafts #christmascrafts
