SIX MONTHS OLD.
They made a dramatic entrance at 25 weeks with lungs that were not ready to breathe, eyes that were not ready to open, tummies that were not ready to be fed, and skin that was not ready to be touched. Jack weighed just 40 grams over the cutoff for viability. They were born into a crowded operating room, resuscitated, and rushed to the NICU. There was no first cry, no baby lifted above the curtain, no skin to skin or picture of daddy holding two babies wrapped in hospital blankets. What we did get was miracle after miracle as Jack and Ben spent the next 100 and 130 days testifying to the power of the ultimate Healer while they made their way home.
Their prematurity was not in our plans, BUT GOD made a way for them. Each day, we heal a little bit more, and as we navigate post-NICU life, we continue to learn to pray: “Give us THIS day, our daily bread.” Our God is greater
Our God is stronger
God, you are higher than any other!
Our God is healer,
Awesome in power,
