The most amazing few days with incredible people on this beautiful island. My heart and soul are full.
Happy Earth 🌏Day! This photo is a throw back to my days in Maui. Hiking volcanoes, surfing in the ocean, and eating fresh fruit from the earth were my day to day back then. I strive to keep a connection to the earth that I’ve learned as a child. I’m thankful that my culture (Mohawk/Odawa) teaches a deep respect for the earth as a living being that sustains human life. The elements and the seasons are celebrated and honoured, not a single part of this delicate balance should be taken for granted. I have a long way to go but I am doing my part to reduce my environmental impact by making specific choices of how I live my day to day life. This month I gave up straws, plastic bags and single use cutlery to reduce my plastic footprint. This was part of @tentreeambassadors#pledgetoplant initiative. I hope to keep this pledge permanent, and I’m already thinking what other plastics I can give up. Bamboo toothbrushes may be the next step. . . . #earthday2018 #tentree#tentreeambassador#powertotheplanet#maui#haleakala#riseup#indigenouswomenhike#nativesoutdoors#indigenousbeliefs#earthdayeveryday
