Dumbbell shoulder press.

In the lowering phase of this exercise, try to keep your hands (and therefore the weight) above your elbow joint. This will give you a strong & balanced platform to push the weight back up and control it back down.
The depth of your shoulder press (not pictured here) may depend on your upper body strength & flexibility, however this simple hand placement is something you can go to the gym and adjust immediately, giving your wrist, elbow & shoulder joints a nicer ride 😄

❇️ IS YOUR TRAINING PARTNER HELPING YOU TO PROGRESS? ❇️

The benefits of having a training partner are only there if you know HOW to train together. Finding a training partner on a similar level with similar goals can be tough. Have you ever trained with someone and it just doesn't work? This may just be a result of not setting mutual expectations at the start.
.
All too often I see training partners sitting back and watching silently. If your goal is progression then it might be a good idea to get involved in your partners training and help them PROGRESS. .
.
Here's a few things you can focus on if you are training with someone and want to get the most out of your sessions:
➡️ Agree on expectations at the start so you know how you're going to spot each other.
.
➡️ Let your spotter know how you want them to spot you and give them feedback.
.
➡️ Give each other cues during the set to improve focus. E.G: "drive your arms out to the walls". .
.
➡️ Find ways to make exercises more challenging and efficient (as per the video above).
.
➡️ Provide feedback between sets on how you can improve the next set. .
.
All this stuff makes a massive difference in training intensity and long term progression. If it's not working, find a way to make it work or move on. .

I'm writing this post to be informative and to make others aware of their actions in a gym. I do not intend to have this be negative even though the note is rather rude. I was training an older client in the weight training room since it was slow. Before I "take" a bench, I always look around and make sure no one else is using it. I did not see any signs of this bench being used; there were no water battles or weights indicating that it was taken. So, my client and I set up there for some dumbbell work. After my training session with my client, I receive this note and I asked my client if she had noticed if we took someone's bench. She said no... When you are working out in a gym that has multiple people using the equipment, even if it is slow, you have to be mindful of other members. Here are some pointers:

1. EVERYONE pays to be here at the gym. Personal training clients actually pay MORE because they pay for their membership dues AND their training sessions.

2. The equipment is for EVERYONE. Take turns and SHARE. You do not own any piece of equipment. It is the gym's for all members to use.

3. Communicate. If you have an issue with another member or staff, talk it out. Do not be passive aggressive writing notes or being flat out rude acting like you own the place.
4. If someone is using the piece of equipment you were using, ASK if you can finish your set or see if you two can alternate.
5. Be courteous. Wipe your equipment down, put away your weights and just be nice.

I understand that the gym is a common place to take out aggression and frustration. However, you are not the only person using the facility. If you have a problem with me personally, confront me. I'd rather hash it out right now so I can FIX the issue. If you follow these pointers, your gym experience will be much more pleasant for yourself and others around you. As the sizzling summer sun now high in the sky,you got to rip off your sleeves, soak up some sweet rays, and exercise your right to bare arms! Of course, it's more fun to exercise that right if your armaments are more like glistening cannons than shrimpy pistols, and that's where we come in.

1 TRAIN LESS FOR MORE GROWTH

Depending on your program and fitness level, it's possible that over training your arms might be causing more harm than good.

When it comes to building my arms, I embrace the axiom "less is more," which implies that working on something with less frequency can actually—in some cases, such as this—benefit you more.Don't overwork your arms!

2 CHOOSE GOOD FORM OVER HEAVY WEIGHTS

But when the old school isn't working any more my primary advice for biceps exercises is to pick a weight that's challenging but doable in a specific rep range. Usually, this is a weight that allows you to hit every rep in a slow and controlled manner, not in a herky-jerky way.

This mean dropping the weight—and your ego—on dumbbell biceps curls, to ensure quality muscle contraction.

3 TURN DOWN THE VOLUME, UP THE FREQUENCY

Instead of blowing out arms one day per week, add arm exercises to your other upper-body days. This allows you to train my biceps and triceps twice per week each. Train chest with triceps, and back and biceps. Then hit biceps and triceps again for an arm day on its own. But do apply this for more than 4 weeks otherwise you might be over training those babes.
4 TRY THE "GUN RUN" WORKOUT

For sculp a "gun run," is just as much fun and work as it sounds.
