Beware of the new anti gun tactics.. using Valaks. ———————————————————————-The maker of Smith & Wesson firearms lost a prolonged fight with religious groups and other shareholders who have been pushing it to consider a plan to help reduce the harmful effects of its products.

The investors, led by The Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility, presented a resolution on gun safety at American Outdoor Brand's annual shareholder meeting Tuesday, the same resolution it successfully passed at Sturm Ruger earlier this year. And the preliminary voting showed the shareholders also won this fight.

The proposal calls on American Outdoor Brands, Smith & Wesson's parent company, to put together a report on whether the gun maker is adequately addressing the risks that its products are associated with gun violence and to show evidence it is exploring ways to make safer guns and products to reduce this violence.

Speaking at the meeting after the results of the vote were revealed, American Outdoor Brands CEO James Debney said the vote was "politically motivated" and that he was "disappointed" the shareholders had taken their fight to the annual meeting rather than work through legislatures.

Sister Judy Byron, who presented the proposal on behalf of the 11 shareholder groups that backed it, said the move could be key to the company's survival. Recent mass shootings in the U.S. have involved American Outdoor Brands products, she said, exposing the company and shareholders to boycotts, protests and negative publicity. American Outdoor Brands, she said, "is obligated to help find these solutions." The company refused to respond to other shareholder questions about the proposal after the vote.

In a statement after the meeting, Byron said, "Not only can these solutions help save many lives, they may help AOBC's long-term business prospects in the process and we are gratified that so many of our fellow shareholders supported our resolution today." Continued ⬇️⬇️⬇️

Recently, the New York Times published an article about California’s latest attempt to crack down on gun owners: ammo control. Certain California cities have long required dealers keep records of ammunition, and next year that will be a statewide rule, along with background checks for ammunition purchases. California is also pushing for microstamping, a requirement that firearms create tiny imprints on fired cases which would identify from which gun they were fired.

With a near-total focus on the anti-gun side of the debate, the Times reporter made the effort out to be a no-brainer. After all, isn’t it working already? California law enforcement has arrested felons and seized guns based on records from ammunition purchases!

Politicians have pushed for massive taxes on ammunition – and comedians have, too.

Like all well-intentioned yet ill-thought-out laws, these attempts ignore one very important factor: demand. If people want ammunition, other people are going to find ways to sell it to them.

If you don’t think demand needs to be addressed when passing a law restricting access to something with the goal of saving lives, look at federal and state governments to address methamphetamines in the mid-00s. Those restrictions on cold medicine purchases are strikingly similar to some of California’s restrictions or proposed restrictions on ammunition purchases: sales logs and ID verification, for example.

The meth laws didn’t work. Even the Washington Post acknowledges the failure of these meth laws. When attempts were made to limit the ability of Americans to make meth, the laws worked, sort of: the number of meth labs in the US plummeted for a while. The supply of meth? It increased, because it became profitable for Mexican drug cartels to make and sell methamphetamines in massive quantities. It also led to an increase in “shake and bake” meth labs, or people trying to make their own meth literally in their own hands. This led to significant increases in burn victims – in some burn units, as many as 30 percent of their patients are amateur meth producers.

Regrann from @firearmchronicles - As November creeps in, they’re all going to go balls out on these bills! Get out and vote. ————————————————————————Ballotpedia quotes I-1639’s text, noting that the initiative is focused on “semiautomatic assault rifles.” The framers of the initiative define a “semiautomatic assault rifle” as “any rifle which utilizes a portion of the energy of a firing cartridge to extract the fired cartridge case and chamber the next round, and which requires a separate pull of the trigger to fire each cartridge.” In other words, semiautomatic rifles in general are the same as “semiautomatic assault rifles” in particular.

This means passage of the initiative would put in place enhanced background checks for the purchase of semiautomatic rifles, would place a ten-day wait on completion of a semiautomatic rifle sale, and would require purchasers to pass a gun safety course.

Additionally, I-1639 would institute gun storage requirements for all firearms, be they semiautomatic, pump action, bolt action, or single shot. The storage requirements portend felony charges for gun owners whose guns are stolen and used in a crime or accessed by unauthorized people and used for mischief.

Turncoats everywhere. ————————————————————————HARRISBURG — State Sen. Tom Killion, R-9, led a Mom’s Demand Action rally, Monday, at the rotunda at the state Capitol, to urge state House members to pass House Bill 2060.

HB 2060 would require relinquishment of firearms within 24 hours of when a protection from abuse order is issued.

Killion is the prime sponsor of Senate Bill 501, which passed in the Senate 50-0, on March 21. The House was poised to consider a vote Monday afternoon. “We must get guns out the hands of abusers,” Killion said, Monday. “Victims of domestic violence are living in fear. “The longer we wait, the more gun violence will endanger women, children and law enforcement. We need to finally get this bill to Governor Wolf and save lives. Waiting any longer is unconscionable.” The House on Monday was considering passing similar legislation to Killion’s bill, HB 2060, which is sponsored by state Rep. Marguerite Quinn, R-143, of Bucks County.

If HB 2060 passes the House, the Senate will have this bill assigned to the Senate Judiciary Committee for consideration. The House currently has Killion’s bill sitting in the House Judiciary Committee.

In June of this year, police allege Charles Williams shot his wife, Stephanie Williams at their 302 North Five Points Road home, leaving behind two young twin children. At the time, Stephanie Williams was in the process of obtaining a protection from abuse order against her husband. Before the murder, police had visited the house numerous times on domestic violence calls. Williams kept guns in the house. “If police are aware of a dangerous and volatile situation with guns involved, why can’t the guns be removed by law for 30 days or until things settle down,” said Ryan Smith, a friend of the Williams family. "But this is a gun control issue, and it is a hot topic in today’s society.” Tom Buglio, West Chester gun violence prevention activist, has fought for common sense gun laws.

One of many anti gun tactics, expect many more during the midterms. ———————————————————————— A new ad targeting Rep. Mike Coffman (R-Colo.) for his gun-friendly policies features a hypothetical text conversation between a mother and child during a school lockdown.

The ad was released by a PAC run by former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.). According to Politico, the PAC intends to spend almost $1.5 million on TV and digital ads against the vulnerable congressman.

Democrats are optimistic about their chances in November against Coffman, who is facing Jason Crow in Colorado’s 6th district. Cook Political Report rates the race as a “toss-up.” The ad warns viewers that the pro-gun National Rifle Association supports Coffman and has given more money to him than any other member of Colorado's congressional delegation. The ad mainly features a text conversation between a fictional mother and child during a lockdown. "Someone has a gun and they can't find him," the fictional child, Emily, texts.

The mother responds, "A gun???? Are you ok?" "Yeah but I'm so scared. I love u. Tell dad I love him," texts Emily. "I'm on my way...Try to stay quiet," the mother texts.

When Emily types, but does not send a message, the mother asks, "Emily?" then types, "Emily I love you so much." The number of ads promoting stricter gun control have drastically increased this year as compared to the midterm elections four years ago, according to a report from The Wall Street Journal. The increase follows a number of mass shootings and the rise of the student-led "March for Our Lives" movement.

The Journal found that 102,636 pro-gun control ads ran from Jan. 1 to Sept. 9, 22 times more than in 2014.
Anti-gun control ads have also increased, but not by as wide a margin, only slightly more than doubling since 2014.

Now this is interesting 😂————————————————————————OKLAHOMA CITY — A Democrat seeking an eastern Oklahoma House seat has challenged his Republican opponent to a shooting match to see who is better qualified to support Second Amendment rights.

Tom Stites, a Democrat from Sallisaw running for House District 2, called out Republican Jim Olsen, saying he doesn’t believe the Roland native “is a real gun guy.” “I think he is just using the Second Amendment for politics,” Stites said in a news release.

Stites and Olsen are vying for the vacant seat that came open after Rep. John Bennett, R-Sallisaw, decided not to seek another term. Stites previously made an unsuccessful bid for the seat in 2016. “I’m sick and tired of being told as a conservative Democrat I can’t be pro-life or pro-Second Amendment,” Stites said. “I think that if you talk guns, you had better be ready to back it up. So let’s go shoot it out on targets and see who wins.” Olsen said there was no reason for him to participate in a shooting contest. “We are not running to be the sniper of Sequoyah County, but we are running for state representative,” Olsen said. “I may not hit a bull’s-eye every time with a gun, but when it comes to defending our Second Amendment rights, I am always dead center and that is why the Oklahoma Second Amendment Association has endorsed me.” Stites suggested that neutral off-duty law enforcement officers, gun dealers and local NRA members organize and score the shootout.

He offered his farm and personal shooting range for the event. Stites also recommended the event could be used to raise money for charity.

Stites said he is a member of the NRA and has a concealed carry permit. He claims to be a trained and accomplished competitive marksman.

Gun free zones are bullshit. Don’t be a victim they say but how can you protect yourself when the bad guys don’t listen to the laws? Predators love gun free zones, vulnerable targets everywhere. Campus’s are always a crime hot spot and when you are seconds away from becoming the victim the police are only minutes away. I’ve had many horror stories told to me about how the freaks come out at night and college is no difference.🤷‍♂️ Just my .02 though.
