Guava cheese is another one of the winter specialties. It is a Portugese speciality and hence it is popular in Goa where it is called Perad . Peru is the name given to guavas in Maharashtra.
Winter seems incomplete without this, dry fruit masala gud, kale gajar ki kanji, gobhi gajar shalgam pickle. Although the children are not here but I still make it as I have few close friends who love it. Mind you it is a laborious process.
It is important to have ripe as well as unripe hard green guavas, as the latter has more pectin to set the guava cheese.
