For day 21 of #robsartchallenge #gettoknowme the hashtag is #petpeeve
Mine is "Art Prints". I'm not really sure where this term came from and why, but I really do hate it.
It is because of the creation of the "art print", that the majority of patrons to my booth at shows assume that I can make the print they like, larger or into a card. I can't bro, my print came from this block. "But you can just scan it in and make it bigger or into a card". Nope, not going to happen.
I have no peeves with painters making high quality giclee limited edition prints. They've worked incredibly hard to create their art and need a way to spread it further and at a lower price point that the majority of buyers will spend, while the minority spends the big bucks on the original. It's all in the hustle.
We printmakers get multiples in our craft to start with, painters don't.
But graphic designers coming to shows and putting up that 'print' or 'art print' sign infuriate me. They posters or digital prints.
That's my rant for the day.
Now back to my power outage and tropical storm aftermath... #yougotmestarted #printmaking #printmakersunite #petpeeve #artprint #grumpygus #poweroutage
