The cover-crop on the beds at @bluesky.farms will be tilled in next week along with our veg amendments to fix the nitrogen needed by the plants. I pick cover crops like radish that will break up compacted soil with their taproots i.e. tillage.
I like to let my ammendments sit in the beds for 6-8 weeks before planting to make sure it has time to become bioavailable. We use compost/alfalfa/kelp and fungal teas every 3rd watering all the way through veg to boost our food-soil web and rhizosphere. I am a huge proponent of foliar feeding with AACT, kelp, fulvic and fermented plant extracts to increase the SAR of the plant.
If i feel like the plants can use more of anything i try to keep what i use to that single need...if i need nitrogen i will use blood meal, if i need potassium i will do extra foliar feedings with kelp. If i need cal or mag i will top dress Calpril and Dolopril or just water in general organics calmag. I really try to keep it simple and let the plants develop a relationship with living soil. I mostly feed the microbes through veg. .
That will carry us through to the beginning of flowering and then we will be feeding in @oregonsonly liquid bone meal and flower nutrient every other watering through flowering mixed with a few guano teas. I cut foliar feeding off about 3 weeks into flower as excess moisture on flowers become a mold vector.
I know people who be so EXTRA when it comes to growing outdoor. They forget that this plant thrived in harsh conditions for millenia before there were hydro shops full of master growers. Less is More.
