🌍WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY 10/10/2017 Becoming your BEST self, overcoming adversity and living your dream life is no accident. It involves hard MENTAL work, acceptance, forgiveness, sacrifice, studying, and a dogged determination to want to better yourself. It’s a tough invisible journey.

TRIUMPH
It took me over 20yrs to create a STRONG HEALTHY MIND. The raging anger, insecurities, pain, triggers, scars, loneliness, paralytic fears, negative thinking, low self worth, sadness are all (predominantly) gone. Some triggers are still there but not as powerful ie I have to eat warm food, it cannot be cold! as this association to my abuse still lives on. (Don’t give me cold food in a restaurant, my golly! It’s going right back! 😂).
.
PERSONALITY CHANGE
I truly believe that anyone can change their MENTAL MINDSET and reinvent themselves AND change their personality. Albeit I’m very aware other people’s situations may be more of a ‘tweak’ rather than a full rebuild! 😬

GO FOR IT!
So for those of you who have stress, anxiety, just downright waves of unhappiness, I implore you to do the MENTAL work and GROW to become your BEST SELF! Start living your DREAM LIFE filled with meaning, happiness, confidence, inner peace and love!

Van Gogh followed his passion...and his heart- yet I'm not so sure he's a great example! 😂🤷🏻‍♀️😬His paintings; so bold, so deep, so rich in colour yet behind his paintbrush I sense was a tortured soul. I found it quite shocking to learn that he sold only one painting (don't quote me it could be 2🤔) whilst alive, all his other work sold AFTER his death. I'm no Van Gogh expert but I do love the subjective world of art...the mixed opinions; the therapeutic feeling I get when wandering around art galleries; chatting to the artist (where possible) about his/her work. It's so personal, there's no right or wrong and I find it so intriguing to hear about the artwork from the mind of the artist! 💜I feed from creativity in any form! Love it! It's one of my passions that I bring into my life as often as I can...

SOULFUL HAPPINESS ☺️- I passionately believe that soulful happiness begins and ends with a persons self awareness. Its a skill I also believe ANYONE can learn and develop.

So if you want to feel such joy or up your intake- then get into the habit of REGULAR self analysis and introspection. Get to know who you REALLY are in the “now” and what makes you tick. We are all evolving. Life experiences and events change us all, no one is immune. So monitor your own thoughts and feelings. How have you changed? What are your likes now? What don’t you like? Sounds simple? I believe it is.

All you need is to create a calm space for yourself - light a candle, burn some aromatherapy scents whatever helps relax you- then get a pen and let your thoughts flow onto the paper... x x

It could be updating your task list (making it more realistic), tackling the ONE job you’ve been putting off, taking a lunch break! Personally it could be getting to the spin class, mindful eating, getting your haircut #selfcare or cleaning up the garden ready for the colder months! To name but a few!

IT DOES WORK!
For me to achieve the Mental success I have, I’ve always set myself goals. Admittedly when a divorce and other life events got in the way, it hindered my plans but I just regrouped in my head and restarted. On the professional side, check out @lawrencejonesmbe a friend I’ve known for years, self made, who has achieved phenomenal success. We both vehemently believe and are living proof to the power of GOAL SETTING!

GO FOR IT!
So start small! Have a think of what you would like to do different this week. Pick 1x PERSONAL and 1x PROFESSIONAL for the week ahead. Then ACTION.

INSIDE MY MIND- This week Ive learnt about the movement #metoo I joined in by offering my support to all those affected. But as I wake this morning I realise two things:-
.
1. Most people this week who have shared their stories of abuse to me privately have been MEN.
.
2. I haven’t fully shared my own story.
.
To address the first part. There are SO many men who have been abused, in all truth I hadn’t realised the full extent of the problem. I’d only even seen and been around women who have been abused. But it’s rife.
.
Just like me, these courageous men (all ages) I’ve chatted to have been sexually and/or physically and/emotionally abused. And yes like us all, they are scarred and learning to heal and find joy in their lives.
.
To address the 2nd part. Perhaps you thought I would share in detail my story of abuse? No, not on this post, my story for those who haven’t yet heard it can wait. For me, this post is for all the courageous men who have had the balls (literally) to speak out. For what it’s worth, I don’t think any less of you all- I actually think you are all 🌟AMAZING GUYS🌟 for being so courageous in a society that expects you to be the strong, tough one.

Keep pushing on through the mental storms, hurricanes and tsunamis, your calm seas await.

MENTAL RESTDAY (S). Yesterday’s questions need time to settle. They need the space to be fully absorbed into your subconscious. In the years I’ve repeatedly worked hard mentally- pricking my subconscious and soul (like yesterday) the days that follow I switch off. I force my inner chatter to flow gently and quietly in the background. I can hear it, but I turn down the volume. I give my mind the rest it deserves. It’s a bit like exercising regularly and then forcing yourself not to, it can be harder to stop and just be. But like physical exercise, it’s in the rest days that one recuperates and comes back stronger.

IVE MESSED UP!! Yes I have!! 😂😂(nervous laugh). In my three step process I’ve created ☝🏼on how to Triumph in Life, I forgot to add in REST!
.
Now don’t get me wrong I understand the importance of it, but it’s absolutely blummin ESSENTIAL I get this message out! Why?
.
Well from what I’m reading and seeing there is a pattern emerging! So many bloggers, vloggers and influencers are taking breaks when they are completely whacked or borderline breakdown from their 24hr jobs on social media. I totally get it! But I didn’t get its prevalence or the severity of it! I’m reading about it everywhere, people no longer just eating their meals in restaurants because they are taking the “shot” for social media! Husbands experience of life with a successful blogger and how it’s 24hrs with no “switch off”. I get it! I’ve done it, hence my own 8week summer switch off. It can become so intrusive. But if we continue it, knowing all this, we (well definitely me!) will end up in the loony bin if we carry on!
.
So, not one to go by the norms 😅 or shirk my responsibility to myself. I’m going to regularly, weekly, maybe more if it’s been a busy emotionally challenging week unashamedly switch off from social media platforms to refuel for a day or two. I will put up a post that simply says REST DAY. Hopefully by doing this it won’t amount to weeks absence again or else my self care hasn’t worked! Which would be ridiculous seeing as though I’m teaching others the importance!
.
So off I go to practise what I preach! And work out if my wonderfully talented graphic designer can squeeeeeeze in the word REST in the above design! 😂 He loves working with me!! Don’t you @davidmarkbrown 😜😜🤣

MINT TEA & CAREERS! 😉💚As I prepare my mint tea, my mind wanders back to 1994 and my life as a former floral designer 🌺🌸🌻☘️ They we’re fab days! City centre living and working! I loved being self employed and loved creating innovative displays for my clients! Their smiles when they saw my displays did it for me!! 😍From weddings, fashion stores, restaurants, clubs, corporate events, private parties, TV work, the lot! I loved my job! And some of the locations were just STUNNING!! Admittedly the regular 4am trips to the flower market were a bit tricky at times, as was driving up and down the length and breadth of the UK! 🇬🇧

I’ve also been a decorative antique dealer within the last 2yrs but that’s another story for another time! 😂😂
.
Has anyone else done a complete career change? Or have you put your career on hold to raise your children? Do you want to do something different but too afraid to?

Good Mornnnnning! 🌍 My something nice today is that I’m going to pop to my elderly neighbour Joan and give her some company. She is always telling me off for never visiting her and I’ve been promising for a while but just not got around to it 🙈 (I know, lame excuse!). The time really does fly by!

Joan’s an amazing lady. She has a real “Get on with it” 💪🏼attitude & a wonderful sense of humour! At 91yrs she is THE strongest hugger I know! 😂

FIGHTING TALK! 😐So at 20yrs I’d already learnt that the way to deal with stuff was to fight, yes literally fight! My anger stemming from an abusive childhood was getting worst not better. I’d been in lots of fights and then arrested for having a fight at a music concert in my late 20’s, I was raging with everyone, including myself!
.
My homelife was still not good and so from around 18-20yrs I was lucky enough to be housed by my then boyfriend and his Dad. This home was loving and caring and it showed me a new world!
.
It was around this time that I read this book and it LITERALLY changed my life!
.
CHANGE your MINDSET and you too will see that ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE!!
