W5D2: Working sets were 2x4 at 405 for deadlift. Both sets felt very easy, but I definitely need to work on hip and foot positioning to avoid leaning over the bar so much.

Wow. This 1996 XL cheese pizza of absurdity just surfaced on my Instagram feed. Brings back crazy memories - hustler's mentality.
I was cuttin' my teeth down in Memphis for $40 bucks per match every night in flea markets, state fairs and pretty much anywhere we could set up a ring. Every night during intermission, myself and the other wrestlers would go out and set up a table in the crowd and sell our pictures and little trinkets to the fans to make a buck. My merchandise would sell between 75 cents and $3 bucks. Hell, if you were one of the few fans who had an extra $5 bucks on ya, then you could even take a Polaroid with me! You'd go home happy (hopefully;) and I'd have $5 more bucks to go towards my gas money and Waffle House. This vintage cheese pizza was one of the pics I would sell to the fans... while standing in the middle of a flea market during intermission before my match. Those days were hard core for me, but as hard as they were, all I knew was the hustle and I'd do whatever it took to climb that ladder and succeed. If it meant standing out in the middle of the crowd selling my trinkets, I'd do it. If it meant wrestling in shitty barns or the parking lots of used car dealerships, I'd do it. If it meant driving up and down the highways over 1900 miles per week to make $40 bucks per match, I'd do it. And if I had to do it all over again, I'd do it twice.
I know a lot of you are enjoying the success of your hustle these days and many of you are still hustlin' hard core to make success happen. Keep hustlin' and don't stop. That's the best part about this whole thing.. is when you finally make it.. and you will.. that's when the hustle gets even stronger. It never stops.

Lastly, the week I signed this pic to an employee at Eckerd's drug store in Florida, I got the call from the WWE that they were officially signing me to their roster as "Rocky Maivia". As you can tell by my WTF signature, I had no idea how to even sign my new name. Thankfully, it just became plain ol' "Rock". #GrindDNA #WhateverItTakes #TrinketsForSale #GasMoneyAndWaffleHouse

W4D2: Deficit pulls for some deadlift work. 3x8 working up to a top set of 315 that honestly felt like 135. Reppin’ USA today as a reminder that we will #NeverForget those we lost 17 years ago 🇺🇸❤️

The bigger range of motion forces me to focus on keeping my shoulders retracted and keeping my hips as low as possible. These are definitely the 2 biggest adjustments I have to make with my deadlift overall. Got a little distracted on rep 3 and 4 because people think its okay to walk in front of the camera while I’m working.

W4D1: had a 4x6 at 245 scheduled for today. First set felt really good so I grinded out another 2 reps and got 8. Finished up the next 3x6 nice and strong.

Life is all about details, if you spend it focused on the bigger picture, you’ll never make it. You can’t get the body you desire without putting in the work, same goes for a business or health, you simply can not achieve greatness with 50% effort. Some people think I’m arrogant, I’m simply confident and in full control of my life. I don’t accept excuses, period. No matter the circumstances, my father once told me “where there’s a will, there’s a way” - do you have a will? Do you want to achieve those goals, or you just kind of want them? Do you want those goals as bad as you want that piece of toast, it all comes down to which one you love most? This picture says a lot, I’m locked in, focused on my goals. I’m ready to put in what ever grind it will require. I’m ready to dominate my day. I am not arrogant, I am Coach J, determined, focused, and confident. It is my job to take you outside of your comfort zone and bring you in the “No excuses” mentality. Until then, you might think I’m arrogant, simply remember this. Its my job to take you to places you didn’t know existed, once you go to those places, that’s when you will realize that I am not arrogant, I simply want what’s best for you, and unfortunately, I tell you what you need to hear, not what you want to hear.
