Baby grey horned owl, grounded but learning to leave. It fell to the ground earlier this morning, according to one of the women there photographing, while trying to hop to another branch. But look at it! Unruffled and keeping on.
Very thankful I brought my camera bag on my ride today.
Baby Grey Horned Owl. Came across a taped off area to find this baby owl chilling at the base of a tree. The parents were up high in the trees above. Sadly, a women and her kids tried to get under the tape to get a selfie with the baby owl but were stopped after being yelled at. They were lucky the parent owls didn't swoop down and attack them.
The park rangers were awesome today! The #aviaryeducationcenter did not disappoint. #greyhornedowl behaved and allowed us to have a good look and plenty of time for our Scouts to ask their questions 🙌🏻 I just love nature!!! #supportstateparks They care for those wildlife that aren't able to be released back into the wild 💚
Last night I indulged in my favourite new form of evening entertainment, sitting in the darkness of our bedroom - silent - while I watched the deer paw away at the snowbanks & stand gracefully on their hind legs to grasp the last of the berries on the frozen trees while our resident grey horned owl stood watch in the poplar tree. This morning it shocked me as I opened the drapes and saw it sitting there, watching & waiting while the wind blew and the new snowfall began to settle all around us...
