Lieutenant Georg Johanson , formerly a hired Hessian Mercenary decided to join the Royal Army after he gambled away his Family's money in 1773, but by 1780 Johanson was sent to South Carolina in order to stop American Resistance. Georg had been assigned to the 5th regiment of Foot, a Grenadier detachment . It was a hot Saturday and by 3:00 , his platoon would be reduced by 60%. It was 1:00 , and Johanson was on his way to Camden, a decent amount of plantation indentured servants had passed the marching troops, about 5 minutes after their passing , the rear of the Platoon had been massacred , as it turns out , the "indentured servants" were really South Carolinan Militiamen, the wagon had contained 30 brown bess muskets which had been retrieved after the Platoon marched by. Because of British doctrine, the Platoon kept marching , Johanson ordered the men to a halt, an about face was called and the ranks were put to combat positions, but by then 20 men , or about 33% of the Platoon was killed , he ordered the command of fire , which only killed one Militiaman , more Militiamen rose from the Grass and attacked the Flanks of the Soldiers , Johanson watched as troops dropped to the ground. A nearby Light Cavalry Squad had broke route in order to investigate the gunfire , with the horses heard and the Union Jack seen, the Militiamen fled , Johanson would end up tried by British Common Law.
