Celebrating the final day of spring last night at the Great Salt Lake. I've painted this view (looking towards Antelope Island) so many times but it still makes me ache with its beauty every time I'm out there - especially this time of day Happy Summer!
How often do you salute the sun? Considering it's over 100 degrees in SLC today it's more likely the sun is being cursed! The fact still remains our existence is guided by the sun and I appreciate all it gives to us. As a photographer, I'm even more grateful when I can experience a glimpse of the first or last light of the day. I've already watched the sunrise this morning and I plan to watch it set this evening. It's a powerful day with lots of spiritual significance worth offering gratitude towards. It's also one day closer to the return of winter. 😁
My recent trip to Spiral Jetty inspired me to look back on my first trip out there last year. It's amazing how much the site changes depending on the water level. Last year, the water had receded and left behind this crazy, moonlike landscape of salt-encrusted sand. I'm still stunned by the experience!
