Practicing tonight after yesterday’s Trackman lesson with Mark Fairhall. Takeaway was to feel like my left elbow is powering into my left mid rib cage side on the way down, keeping it there as long as possible, turn and feel like I’m hitting out to the left (so basically a draw!). My problem has been on the way down with my left elbow coming away from my body and creating a really steep angle. So lots of practice on this now. So tempting to chase the big shots all the time ... need to reign it in!
Got 5 trackman lessons booked for the next 5 weeks. Meanwhile, trying to figure out how to get more consistent repeatable solid strike using feel alone with no data. Posture seems to be playing a big part in this, specifically the position of my hips at set up. Also feeling like I’m pushing into the ground throughout. Both are stopping me from getting ahead of the ball.
Finally, a small fade with a driver! Couldn’t find the time for a lesson - too much going on. So tried my best tonight to figure what the problem was/is. Working on gripping it light, arms relaxed and trying as hard as I can to stay behind it. It’s just basic stuff but collectively not done makes me look like an absolute novice. It’s a real test of determination and patience but I will get there 🙂. If anyone has got any good drills / tips for staying behind the ball and stopping lateral movement I’m all ears!
