I'm sure you all know by now how much I love #IIFYM! I eat things like Halo Top ice cream almost every day. I make it a priority to fit peanut butter into my diet. I don't say no to chocolate. This morning I went to IHOP and ordered a 3-stack of pancakes along with my egg breakfast, because you can't go to IHOP and not get pancakes.
I've been through the 1,200 calorie a day, "bro meals" only diet. I turned into an avid dieter by day, binge eater by night. At work during the day, my willpower was high - I'd stick to my chicken and broccoli, avoiding the staff area that was filled with donuts, pizza, candy, etc., then for supper, I'd have my protein shake to finish up my 1,200 calories that I was allowed for that day. A few hours later I would oftentimes find myself finishing off 4 scoops of peanut butter topped with 3 servings worth of granola plus chocolate chips, and it never seemed to stop there. It was a VERY unhealthy cycle of restriction and binges, and all of my hard work in the gym was being wasted by my moments of weakness in the kitchen. This all went on for far too long. Then, I got smart and decided to do some research - I started learning more and more about nutrition & macros, and eventually stumbled across "if it fits your macros" and it saved me. What I've learned most from IIFYM is that eating doesn't have to be boring or bland, or this cookie cuter plan filled only with chicken and broccoli. You don't have to deprive yourself to reach your goals. Instead, make the foods that you love fit into your macros.
I had to share that second picture, because it's so true & I do it too. I share the "good stuff" - this big breakfast, the ice cream & chocolate - but just know, I eat looooots of "healthy foods" like egg whites & chicken, too. #becausebalance
