Much of my past week was spent off adventuring in Grand Canyon National Park on a 5-night, 6-day backpacking trip across areas accessed by the Hermit and Boucher (pronounced 'boo-shay', as namesake Louis was Québécois) trails off the south rim. In addition to the long overdue (true) and oft-requested (not) #vacationdanselfie (part of a series!) as the front panel, I have included some additional shots of the gorgeous scenery taken in during my holiday. As there are zero cellular communication towers located within the Canyon walls and the only viable means of communication are smoke signals, mirrors, and satellite uplinks, I have missed a week of Instagram posting and have fallen far behind in keeping up with my feed. My most sincere apologies on that, and while I was able to catch up on the staggering #IMOMAS posts of late last week (thank you all so much for thinking of me ☺️), I am trying to get my life back to sorted, while also reintegrating to work. The swipe-left panels include several of my favorite views from the trail, including sheer walls, remarkable natural colors, perfect October weather, and the mighty Colorado River. Hope you're able to vicariously enjoy my getaway for a short bit, and please let me know if I need to provide any further detail. I was able to take a moment and indulge my flatlay cravings last Friday, and will try to share the results of that endeavor in the near future. Thanks again to everyone for your patience with my lack of activity here. #grandcanyon#grandcanyonnationalpark#gcnp#hermitcreek#backpacking#backpack#grandcanyonnps#bouchertrail#hermittrail#tontotrail#campsite#hiking#redwall#canyoncountry#nps#nationalpark#nationalparks#arizona#southrim#coloradoriver#hike#adventure#adventuring#vista#october#octoberweather
Grand Canyon Chuckwalla. Multiple posts from P&L Originals tee shirts on Amazon. Chuckwallas are strictly rock dwelling residents of the southwestern deserts of the USA and attain lengths up to 16 inches (40 cm). They emerge from hibernation in February and can remain active in temperatures up to about 102 degrees F (39C). When disturbed it seeks shelter in rock crevices, inflating it body making it hard for predators to “extract” it!
Day 6: Grand Canyon NP, North Rim, AZ... Utterly and completely the most majestic sight of the trip, this scarred earth stretches out it seems for eternity. Looking out across this view gives way to a feeling of eons of history pouring into you all at once, it's almost overwhelming. . . #grandcanyon#arizona#hiking#northrim#grandcanyonnps#angelspoint
This place is brutal. It's lines make all of the sense in the world, yet you can never actually take it all in. To the Yavapai Apache, Haulapai, Havasupai, Southern Paiute, Hopi, Zuni, and Navajo, to have made home in this place deserves the utmost respect. I'm baffled. Onward.
