In his work, @wietss explores different ways of meeting people. He doesn’t stage it in a traditional way, but by being there and looking for interaction with his subject. This interaction often arises from a conversation on the street, or by literally ringing doorbells of strangers. In Wietse’s project everyone is equally important, he doesn’t place people he photographs on a pedestal. The camera as a social means creates interaction between Wietse and his subject, and contributes to a positive tension.
