After some days of serious riding and climbing, the initial plan was to take 'a day off' and make an easier ride. So we took the map of the #altabadia region and found a climb that didn't sound as familiar as the traditional #giro and #maratonadlesdolomites climbs:
the 2000m.a.s.l #passodelleerbe (or #würzjoch in german)!
Without looking at the profile of the climb, we started the day with a 30km descend along the #gradera river. After reaching the small village of #sanmartinoinbadia we left the main road and started the climb. But what a surprise: already after the first turn we understood that it would burn in the legs because the gradient was enormous (especially after a long frisky descend). Luckily there's a meadow with llamas along the road after 1km, so one can stop and use the excuse of taking photos of these atypical animals.
Further on, the gradient becomes more human but still with some very steep hairpins. In the middle of the climb there is this flat section in the forests where the surrounding mountains create this impressive scenery. Since this is a very quiet road, there's almost no sound; only the wind in the trees and the air in your lungs.
This is definitely an underrated climb, but big fun from the bottom to the top! Smooth road surface, nice views, almost no traffic, and a new surprise after every corner..!
