As a curly girl, my mane is closely associated with my identity. It took a few years to truly appreciate it BUT once I did, it was a done deal! Which is why you can imagine the horror I felt when it startes to fall off... I started thinning at the edges and lost major volume. Why?
Let me count the ways:
1. Major Stress: YES! Stress wreaks havoc on your health and hair.
2. Medications: PCOS(this alone will cause thinning) and Migraine meds all had side effects of hair loss.
3. Poor diet due to stress
So what did I do? I did what any woman my age would do: talked about it with girl friends! And would you believe that recommendations started pouring in?! (Sisterhood is a powerful force). One of these recommendations came from @michyboo0806 and it was SIMPLE: sleep in a satin bonnet. So I went down to a local beauty supply store and bought that one pictured to the left!
In addition to sleeping in the Satin Cap I started taking Biotin (and later moved up to Hair369 vitamins which are pretty amazing! My edges started growing in a lot better with these vitamins than just the Biotin alone). My fall out/shedding decreased significantly with these two steps alone!
However I wasn't 100% sold on that original satin bonnet because the cotton band still rubbed againt my edges and was a little constricting. So I went ahead and the gave the Grace Eleyae SLAP (black pictured on the right) a try and loved it immediately. The satin goes all the way to the edge and the beanie style stays on all night without contricting.
While the original may be a lot cheaper ($3.99), the SLAP is worth the money in my book ($29.95, currently on sale for $20.97). It also holds up better than the beauty supply satin bonnet. (I've been using mine for 6 months now and they look new. Whereas I had to replace the cheaper one frequently.) So if you were wondering whether the SLAP is worth the money, I believe so! I've worn it on many flights/long car rides and it looks like a cute accessory!
Do you guys sleep in a satin cap? Which are your favorites?
