Fans and critics did not care for Iron Fist season 1, and many of them were also underwhelmed by how much of the plot of The Defenders revolved around Danny Rand. Still, his banter with Luke Cage provided the spark of something worth exploring in the team-up series.
Comic book fans know that Luke and Danny are longtime friends and crimefighting partners in print, which means that it's logical to see if that spark can be fanned into a flame. It's going to happen in Luke Cage season 2, where Finn Jones, who plays Rand, has already confirmed to be appearing.
But since the two heroes just met in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, does it make sense for them to be teamed again so soon? Mike Colter, the star of Luke Cage, told MCU Exchange why he thinks it does. Colter also noted that it might be a change of pace from what viewers who only know Cage from the Netflix series might expect. Since he has a history with Jessica Jones and the two heroes hinted at reconnecting toward the end of The Defenders, that would be a logical direction to take.
