Buying products from your local and independent shops really is helping the planet and its inhabitants. It reduces environmental impact because these locally owned businesses don't get things from super far away, they generally favour getting products from close-by places and people (farms, artists and other entrepreneurs). But the great thing about buying local is that you're actively helping your community, encouraging local prosperity and creativity, and you'll get real (often very nice) people helping you out and answering your questions with honesty and passion! There's nothing more rewarding than knowing you're doing the right thing and getting the best products from lovely people.
Do you have any favourite local shops, wherever you are? I've only been in Margate for a bit over two weeks, but I already have my favourites! I love shopping for plants and pretty pots made by Boe at @marmarmargate I get my organic grocery bits @thegraingrocer and I love going to @lovelysgallery for all my art supplies! (That’s where I got my easel from). I’m very much looking forward to discovering more little local marvels in Margate...🌿
