If you’re one of the generous people who share their time and resources at Christmas we take our hat off to you. Christmas isn’t all sparkles and love for everyone, instead it's the toughest and loneliest time of the year for many people. Perhaps it's that extra seat at Christmas lunch you offer to someone. Or the voluntary work you do. Or the donations of goods and gifts you make for people you've never met. While we worry about which bin the shiny paper might go in or how to cook bubble and squeak, others have much more pressing needs. Christmas is a great time to remember this and put a little perspective on our own troubles. Are you doing something to help others this Christmas? We'd love to hear from you. . . . .

Meet the CEO of Fairtrade Australia & New Zealand, the dynamic, passionate and highly personable Molly Harrisson Olson. She's an internationally recognised leader in global sustainability and fair trade. We spoke with her recently about all things fair and not-so-fair trade. And she shared her hopes for this Christmas with us: . “The holiday period is a wonderful time for reflection and for people to think deeply about what giving means and how they can give something that actually helps someone from another part of the world to also have a happy holiday. . Consuming for consuming sake is one of the things that is challenging in the world. But when you consume in ways that are thoughtful and careful and can help people in other parts of the world, you’re doing good for people. So I’d say be thoughtful about what you’re giving and try to give gifts that will make the world a better place.” . The full interview with Molly will be published in The Gazette next year, our monthly round up of good things straight to your inbox. Sign up on our website so you don’t miss out. . . .
