Going Low carb/Keto could be a great dietary method to use to loose weight but it’s not magic. The only way to loose weight is to be in a CALORIE DEFICIT. That’s SCIENCE 🤓

So why do so many people claim that they loose weight when they cut out carbs??? 🧐

They likely do loose weight, but because they’ve suddenly cut out a whole macronutrient/food group, the best food group ( 🍩 🍰 🍕 🍫 🍉 🍓 🍌 ) which in turn has put them in a large CALORIE DEFICIT. What’s more, every gram of carb requires 3-4 grams of water, therefore cutting carbs will result in a quick drop in weight purely from water not fat. Imagine if you were eating 200g of carbs a day (800 calories) and you suddenly cut that out. You’ve just created an 800 cal deficit. Guess what, you’re going to loose weight 🤷🏼‍♂️. But is that sustainable??

The A to Z weight loss study (Alhassan et al, 2008) concluded that Dietary ADHERENCE is the most important factor for weight loss strategies. If it puts you in a CALORIC DEFICIT and you can ADHERE to it, it doesn’t matter what dietary method you follow, High carb, low carb, Keto, paleo or Froyo. It comes down to personal preference.

Carbs are also the preferred fuel source for high intensity exercise and result in better performance which in turn should result in a higher calorie burn in comparison to a low carb diet 🤷🏼‍♂️
