Every parents dream is to raise well balanced children who are structurally adjusted and to have lots and lots intrinsic values and principles.
In a bid to achieve this dream, we mostly hold ourselves to high standards, in not just our behavior but in our thoughts and utterances, living on the prayer that, our children will watch us and learn to be people of sterling qualities.
Sometimes, we journey parenthood, and then in our children’s young adult lives an experience they’ve had, makes us give ourselves a pat on the shoulder to say, “you’ve done a pretty amazing job of raising this child”. At other times the pat can come quicker, the timeframe for this validation is never cast in stone.
In this age where the grass is greener on social media, we all (me included) want to bring an A game to our ensemble, especially when we know we will run into family and friends.
Well, I had my values reviewed sometime last year. You see my son decided he was going to wear a shirt cousin Tobi had handed down, and I thought for the occasion the shirt wasn’t appropriate seeing that he had newer options to pick from, and when I began to insist that he change the shirt, he quipped, “but mommy I know i have other options, please I want to wear it, I want them @omolaraobileye and Tobi to see me wearing it, to know I appreciate the clothes they always give me, because I truly do”. I felt really proud and in my heart gave praises to the Almighty that this young man I call son, has such depth and insight.
Child raising isn’t like washing and ironing clothes, or cleaning the entire house and when you are done, you say to yourself “I did brilliant”.....sometimes it takes years and years before you can actually applaud yourself. #childraising #children #motherhood #grit #welearndaily #inspirational #goodpeople #goodchildren #amazingkids #lifeisbeautiful #living #moms #naija #stories #lagos #motherhoodchronicles #chronicles #bebetter #socialmedia
