|WARNING: LONG POST |
2 years ~ 730 days since the 2015 Guam Bodybuilding & Fitness Competition. First off I can't believe it's been that long, congrats again to the champ @bangemout_fitness and my fellow competitor @jaren_fit . You both have been absolutely crushing it since then. I fully expect to see great accomplishments from the both of you in the near future!
So much has changed these last 2 years, my posing coach and mentor Tony Morrison has since passed away. I am grateful to have gotten the opportunity to work with one of Guam's bodybuilding legends. Thank you to him and his wife MaryAnn Pangelinan Morrison for taking me in like family and helping my uncoordinated a#$ learn how to pose for the first time.
My official placing that day was 7th out of a tough lineup of 15+ competitors. Ironically enough 7th is the same spot my current coach @sadikhadzovic placed at this year's Mr. Olympia. While initially that crushed me, I gained the clarity and peace of mind to understand that I should be using that as motivation to get better not bitter. While I haven't competed again just yet I'm constantly working on my weaknesses and improving my strengths. Humble to be working with a true professional and some day hope to help others myself in much the same way.
Congrats to all the competitors, champions and friends I made that day @berger_buns_ , @tribe.gu , @rhea.macaluso , @msfittee , @loving_life_trayce , & @desiree.eay . Y'all keep kicking ass and inspiring all of us to do better. Thanks for coming in clutch on the tan Meghan Reding.
Last but not least thank you to my amazing diet, exercise and mental-sanity coach/cousin @fitforever_by_gule ! She is a true inspiration, treated me like her own little brother and guided me in a tough 4 month sprint to both bulk & cut. Something most competitors spend an entire year doing. Not going to let you down and follow in your footsteps to get that gold.
All of my friends, family and coworkers thank you for supporting me on this crazy idea that a skinny kid from Chicago had of competing in Men's Physique.
PS - Travis love ya bro! *If you haven't read Robert Greene's book Mastery.. do it!
