This week has been one of the saddest weeks. This special angel went home to be with the Lord last Sunday evening. Brooke was my beautiful neighbor girl that moved across the street from our home just before her 4th Birthday and she just turned 16 in June. Her celebration of life was so beautiful yesterday, there was not a dry on in the packed church.
This special needs girl and her beautiful family taught me so much about what unconditional
Love is. I watch how her amazing parents love, care for and fight the best treatments for their daughter. The medical professionals do amazing things but sometimes you have to be an advocate to help your child and Tara and Bob were that voice. They always had Brooke beautifully dressed. Brooke was the strongest, bravest little girl I have ever know. Though pain, seizures were a part of her daily life she bravely endured all. I was privileged to sit with Brooke on occasion. I loved reading to her and talking to her. Though she couldn't verbally talk she would speak to me with her eyes, with moans and the most beautiful smile. And I know she recognized my voice.
Though she is gone from us now she is in Heaven with a whole body~doing all the things she could not do on earth. Singing, dancing, running, showing her brother and sister she can be a soccer star too. I know she is enjoying all The foods she never got to taste down here. Enjoy that big bowl of ice cream my sweet Brooke.
I want to encourage you to reach out and touch a special needs child. Give them a smile
Or a wave. Acknowledge them, for God made them special. I think it is to teach us all to stop being so self focused. Tara used to put a shirt on Brooke when they traveled that said something like "Feel free to stare, but leave me With a smile." You will be in my heart forever, thank you for your love and for teaching me what truly matters in life. I Love you sweet girl. 💙🙏🏻😘😘😘💃🏻😇⚽️🏄🏼♀️🛴
