I was listening to this song through YouTube called "East Hastings" by the band #GodspeedYouBlackEmperor (East Hastings is a part in Vancouver, Canada that is totally deprived and a magnet for the outcast of the city) this song really got me down & reminded how there's and "east hastings everywhere in our world. I live near these neighborhoods in Homestead, Florida this song perfectly captures hopelessness and desperation of those lost souls wandering the streets like ghosts. Some cry out for help, others are so far gone they don't want to be saved. People drive through these areas like in downtown miami on their way to glitzy clubs and they lock their car doors, and scoffs at the poverty-stricken, the sick, the disabled. Others turn their heads, avoid eye contact, and pretend they don't exists. Walking down the streets is just heartbreaking. A frightening reminder of a world that each one of us could easily find ourselves living in some day.
