To say I’m proud of these guys is a huge understatement.
Phillip Monaghan and Hayden Brighenshaw Wilson just attended their first major international. The WAKO world championships where phillip was able to make it to the quarter final before being narrowly beaten by Slovakia. Hayden put up good fights in his divisions and was able to walk away with his head held high knowing he was competitive.
A tournament with around 2500 combatants from over 60 countries world wide.
Phillip whilst being exposed to martial arts from a young age has really only been training consistently for just under 2 years.
Hayden likewise has only competed a handful of times over the last 12 months and only been training for around 2 years.
Many of the people the guys competing against in Italy have ten or so years experience and hundreds of tournaments behind them. To perform at this level and to be competitive taking it to the best in the world is a credit to their attitude and work ethic.
We have only just started this journey. It’s going to be a long hard exciting journey full of highs and lows.
We learn we improve we move forward. #godma #diamondmartialartscoffs #wako @haydenb.w @phillipmonaghan
