1998: The year Biotech launched its war on science. Arpad Pusztai, an impeccably qualified scientist, received a grant to develop standard animal feeding trial testing methods to assess possible toxicological effects arising from the GE plant transformation process. The rats fed the GE potatoes in his feeding study developed organ damage, immune defects and other health problems. Dr. Pusztai's response to the study finding was to say... "If I had the choice, I would certainly not eat it. I find it's very unfair to use our fellow citizens as guinea pigs." Dr. Pusztai was humiliated, discredited, fired and legally silenced. Biotech's anti-science campaign continues to this day. Feel like eating one of those Simplot GMO potatoes that the USDA just approved?

Following Scotland's recent announcement that the country will ban the cultivation of GMO crops, Lynn Boylan, Irish Member of the European Parliament for Dublin representing Sinn Féin, is calling for a ban in her own country: “I am very pleased to hear the Scottish government has not chosen to follow the pro-GM Tory government in England but instead has listened to the legitimate concerns of its citizens and environmental groups. It’s now time for the Irish government to put its money where its mouth is and do the same. Ireland’s food sector has a hard-won and excellent reputation for high-quality food produce which must be protected. Furthermore, the EU risk assessment for GM crops is inadequate, the majority of Irish citizens do not want them and the long-term impacts are unknown. I’m calling on the government to follow the Scottish government’s lead and ban their growth on Irish territory.” #GMOFreeIreland #Ireland #GMOFreeUSA #GMO #BanGMOs

Repost from @gmofreeusa_official using @RepostRegramApp - Corporate Greenwashing: General Mills' is sending free packets of wildflower seeds to people all over the country, supposedly to help the bees. This is all fine and dandy, except some of the flowers included could be invasive species if planted in the wrong areas. Forget-me-not is banned as a noxious weed in Massachusetts and Connecticut. The California poppy is nice in California, but listed as an “invasive exotic pest plant” in southeastern states. And many of the flowers being given out are not native to anywhere in the U.S., so they are not necessarily good matches for our local bees.

That's not the greenwashing part - just ignorance on the part of General Mills. What is greenwashing is this: One of the major contributors to the decline of bees in the first place is the mass adoption of GMO crops sprayed with glyphosate-based herbicides and the neonicotinoid insecticides used on the seeds. These pesticides are killing killing the bees. And yet, General Mills sources these pesticide-dependent crops for the majority of their products. So General Mills is killing off the bees en mass with the production of their products, then asking consumers to plant some wildflowers. Sorry, but plating wildflowers isn't going to save the bees. Banning GMOs and neonicotinoid insecticides will save the bees. BOYCOTT GENERAL MILLS. Tell them to stop greenwashing.
