What does Monsanto do with a reporter that they don't like? According to Carey Gillam: "Monsanto admits that they reached out to my editors and made efforts to get me removed from the food and agriculture beat at Reuters. They also employed surrogates like BIO and CropLife in the ag-chemical industry who tried to block and limit my coverage. They had nonprofits like Academics Review write attack articles about me. They’ve tried to vilify and discredit my work for at least the last decade—after they discovered that I wasn’t going to parrot the propaganda that they want reporters to use." Gillam's new book, "Whitewash: The Story of a Weed Killer, Cancer, and the Corruption of Science", is a culmination of decades of her investigation into Monsanto, Roundup/glyphosate, and people that have gotten cancer from Monsanto's poison. Need to heal from GMO damage? Kombucha has many healing properties. Fermented tea known as kombucha has been rapidly growing in popularity among health food lovers. But it's actually been around for thousands of years. As GMOs and their associated herbicides have been linked to kidney and liver toxicity as well as a myriad of other health problems, Kombucha may help with the healing process related to many of these problems. It's best to use kombucha in moderation to begin (four to eight ounces a day), even though the bottle may recommend a full 16 ounces per day. And at almost four dollars a bottle, many people may want to keep their intake moderate.

Another reason to start slowly is that kombucha has a detoxifying effect. If the liver is not functioning properly, it can be overwhelmed by the toxins being released. This may be why some people report an allergic reaction to the tea. For that reason, some experts recommend drinking plenty of water while taking kombucha to help flush toxins from the body.

If you are tempted to make your own kombucha, educate yourself first and follow instructions carefully, including using clean equipment, correct temperatures and glass containers.

Kombucha is not a drug but a traditional drink with many health-promoting properties. As with all foods, moderation is key. It's important to listen to your own body to determine whether it is a good choice for you. (Disclaimer: This article is not intended to provide medical advice, diagnosis or treatment.) “The change in how agriculture is produced has brought, frankly, a change in the profile of diseases. We’ve (Argentina) gone from a pretty healthy population to one with a high rate of cancer, birth defects and illnesses seldom seen before…Cancer cases are multiplying as never before in areas with massive use of pesticides. The tobacco companies denied the link between smoking and cancer, and took decades to recognize the truth. The biotech and agrochemical corporations are the same as the tobacco industry; they lie and favor business over the health of the population.” - Dr Medardo Avila Vazquez, Argentinean Pediatrician Specializing in Environmental Health. Although Dr Vazquez is speaking to what he is witnessing in Argentina, the same can be said about America and the rest of the world. It’s time to ramp up our efforts to raise public awareness and educate about the harms of GMO and chemical agriculture. Boycott GMOs. Ban GMOs.

General Mills Brings Back Artificially Dyed Trix: Ever since General Mills announced in 2015 that it would start phasing out artificial colors and flavors from all its cereals (an announcement that boosted sales by 6% in early 2016, and pleased many shoppers and scientists who have concerns about the health effects of these petroleum-sourced food dyes), there has been a parallel outpouring of protest from committed junk cereal lovers. People weren’t happy with the way the cereal looked or tasted. The company received a barrage of comments and criticisms, such as “My childhood faded away with the colors of Trix cereal”; “It’s basically a salad now”; and “I genuinely feel bad for the kids that never got to experience the old Trix cereal.” The Wall Street Journal cited Ashley Carara, a mother from Denver, who wrote “Change it back!!!” on Facebook, shortly after the new Trix hit store shelves. “[Carara] said in an interview she likes the way the artificial colors and high-fructose corn syrup look and taste. The new recipe, not so much. ‘My kids find the color of the new Trix cereal quite depressing,’ she said.” GMOFREEUSA

Iowa State Extension Forester Warns of Monsanto's Dicamba Dangers: Dicamba is an herbicide used since the 1960s to fight weeds. But more recently, since 2016, its use has spiked because Monsanto released their second generation GMO crops genetically engineered to be tolerant of both glyphosate and dicamba. But some farmers' use of dicamba has caused widespread damage to organic, non-GMO, and first generation GMO crops not engineered to resist dicamba - dicamba kills everything. “It’s going to be scary,” said ISU Extension Forester, Jesse Randall. “Gone will be all the grapes in the state, because one whiff and they are done. Tomatoes are gone, most of your garden will be gone, our trees will be burned. It’s just not good.” READ: http://www.thehawkeye.com/news/20171009/iowa-state-extension-forester-warns-of-dicamba-dangers

1998: The year Biotech launched its war on science. Arpad Pusztai, an impeccably qualified scientist, received a grant to develop standard animal feeding trial testing methods to assess possible toxicological effects arising from the GE plant transformation process. The rats fed the GE potatoes in his feeding study developed organ damage, immune defects and other health problems. Dr. Pusztai's response to the study finding was to say... "If I had the choice, I would certainly not eat it. I find it's very unfair to use our fellow citizens as guinea pigs." Dr. Pusztai was humiliated, discredited, fired and legally silenced. Biotech's anti-science campaign continues to this day. Feel like eating one of those Simplot GMO potatoes? Or how about some GMO Arctic apple slices?
