Before I get asked one more time about this video I put up on my stories yesterday - here’s why Renae did this particular move in a session...
Yep! One honest, uncheatable bar path 🙌🏼 When people lunge, they generally glide forward and backward.
With this modified Zercher Lunge, you can’t glide anywhere without it standing out.
The Hex Bar is obvious and when she performs the move, if the bar wobbles or sways, it shows she’s not going vertical.
It also helps with the slight lean forward so we torch the hell out to the hammies and glutes.
Just standing at the top of the move, holding the bar, fully engaged - is enough to make you cry!
Also, the bar itself weighs 27kg so there’s no need to add load to the side and take her off balance.. Load stays close to the body so we get to focus more on depth and range while maintaining constant tension 😳
And don’t forget that it helps with back strength too 💪🏼

So we get to target multiple body parts at once and send the brain into overdrive trying to keep it all together 🤣
There’s also no recovery in this move and for someone who’s been training hard with me for a couple of years now, it’s one that certainly challenges her and hits all the right spots 😉
