First post on instagram!

Lets start with a pic which @raphaelwebhofer took of me last week while we were filming for our new movie #skivacation @whiteroomproductions
You don‘t see any big tripods or cameras, but actually I‘m carring 3 cameras in this nice super light @arcteryx Alpha SK bag which I‘m also using for normal skiing. It‘s much more productive and fun to go out and ski for my own and take some shots than carrying around 30kg bagpacks all day long.

Blue Divide.
Got to see the amazing green-blue glacial waters of Hokitika Gorge during our trip last year. Feet and tripod dipped in the cold, cold water, sand flies flying about to get onto my skin, I took the shot. Shot with ND400 at f/32—not the most technically-correct settings for such a shot due to limitations, but too beautiful not to share.

"Another year will soon turn into past. For me it has been an intense one. I feel like I'm at a time of my life where I get deeper and deeper into the exploration of Arctic and Antarctic lands. All my shoots this year have taken place in very remote and cold locations. I'm really priviledged to work in places that would either be too expensive for me as a tourist or in other cases not even reachable if it wasn't for work. There are more opportunities than ever for people to travel to remote locations but as a wildlife cameraman I can spend so much more time with the wildlife as any guided expedition tourist. It's the great priviledge of my life and I'm aware of it.

On my last shoot I deliberatly didn't take any music with me, no head phones, ipad or computer. I wanted to seriously immerse myself into the location. Even if an ocean crossing on a small sailing yod was involved knowing that I would get horribly seasick. For me so much is about connecting. About becoming empathatic with the species you film. With becoming almost one of them. And to really perceive the place, the landscape, weather, sounds, etc.
Then at the end when I have to say goodbye I know it's going to be emotional. But it's the intensity what life is about for me. And I'm convinced as long as you feel that your emotions grow you live a life true to yourself. It's a rollercoaster. I honestly believe the lower you are willing to fall the higher you can rise! It's the urge for comfort and eveness that takes your life away. So get out there and find out who you are! It's worth it :) "
